Join us Saturday morning for a virtual Artist Discussion with Annette Fortt, part of The Art Clinic Online's artist discussion series.
Annette Gandy Fortt is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, where she graduated from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University) in 1966 with a major in Art Education. She participated in the latter years of the Great Migration, moving to New York City in the late 1960s, earning an MFA from Pratt Institute, then settling in the Washington, D.C. area. She pursued a combined career as an artist and art teacher for 30 years, teaching art in grades K–12, in after-school and adult-education programs, and as an artist-in-residence in both an elementary school and a local prison. She is now retired from teaching, and lives and works in Silver Spring, Maryland.
